Eating vegetarian doesn’t mean foregoing flavour! Try some meat-free grilling this summer and you’ll surprise even the biggest meat lovers.

Burgers, hot dogs and skewers

Plant-based meat alternatives have come a long way in the last few years, which is great news not only for vegetarians and vegans, but also the many people who simply want to eat less meat. Your body needs protein, and it’s entirely possible to eat enough without consuming animal products or by-products. An increasing number of delicious, meatless products are available as alternatives to ground meat and sausage. They’re similar to their animal product counterparts in terms of flavour and texture, plus they’re super easy to prepare!

Prepping for the grill

Burgers: Go with pre-made patties or season beefless ground with your favourite flavours. Spices, herbs and sauces are the perfect way to enhance your burgers. Hot dogs: European-inspired and other flavours of vegan sausages taste so good that even the most adamant meat-lover will never know the difference! They’ll be a hit served in a baguette and topped with sauerkraut or your favourite condiments. Skewers: Marinate some firm or extra-firm tofu, throw it on a skewer with some vegetables, and you’re good to go! Honey garlic, maple raspberry, Thai or teriyaki—the marinade possibilities are endless.
